Many BIOSes have built in backdoor passwords to use to bypass a BIOS password which has been lost. This is, of course, an unacceptable way of handling this. No machine should have a backdoor password; this is a massive security hole. Instead, the machine should have a hardware jumper or dip switch located in a secure location that is not accessible when the case is locked.

I starting working on this web site in late 1995. This site was one of the lucky few to receive the "Mirsky's Worst of the Web" award way back on January 3, 1996 for my Christmas site. Good news gets out fast. I then won "Caveman's Worst of the Web" with the same page. Shortly the unofficial news source of the Dominican Republic also award my site this grand award. (My real consolation is that fincher.org has outlived all of those sites).
